If you are a student and no matter what your plan is to study in the United States starting from learning English in an ESL school or obtaining a degree from one of the American Universities on any subject under the sun, the bottom line is you would be required to obtain an F1 student visa for your self to get into the United States as a student.

It’s important that I mention that almost any one irrespective of the age of the person or his educational background might choose to apply for an F1 student visa. Also the procedure for the same is fairly simple and goes as per the under mentioned. Also you ought to understand that this is different than the exchange student visitor program that the United States patronizes by the recognized J1 visa program which is primarily a sponsored program and has a whole bunch of different details attached with it.

Download the F1 student visa guide for the purpose of application.

Now once that is done then you need t decide up on where in the United States you would choose to stay while you study

Now you need to choose up on the type of the school that you want to get an admission into. Like a college, a university, or may be a graduate school or an ESL school to learn English.

Now you need to get in touch with the school and initiate the admission process in to the same.

Once the school has accepted your admission request they would be issuing you a I 20 form. Please note that this I 20 form, is the going to be the most important part of the paper work that you prepare for the F1 student visa application.

Now you need to apply with the I 20 form to the United States embassy or Consulate for the F1 student visa, to the United States. Also please note that in case you are already in the United States than there are provisions that you would not be required to travel back to the home country. While your visa status is changed to that of a student.

While you travel to the United States on a F1 student visa for your studies. The United States government would allow you to work there legally too, for a limited number of hours every week to help you collect the money for the studies there.

The B1 visa is issued for the Business travelers to the United States and the B2 Visa is issued to visitors who intend to spend some time in the United States just for pleasure. Normally these two types of visas are issued simultaneously. What that would mean for you is in case you are already holding a B1 visa and you wish to travel to the United States simply for pleasure for maximum of three months then in this case you need not apply for a fresh Visa, the old one should be good enough for you.

But please note there are a bunch of dos’ and don’ts associated with both the types of Visas. I would briefly touch upon them in the under mentioned manner.

For a B1 visa traveler:

1. The person would be eligible to conduct negotiations.
2. He might solicit investment of different types or might try to enhance sales of products and articles of a different country.
3. Discuss and plan the above mentioned with interested parties even create legal agreements related to the same.
4. Attend participate or hold meetings.
5. He would be permitted to interview people for the purpose of hiring.
6. He would have all freedom under the sun to conduct any kind of business related research.

The under mentioned are what may be termed as don’ts, and to do them the person would need a working Visa.

1. No would be permitted to run any sort of business.
2. Any activity of gainful nature would not be permitted.
3. No payments may be received from any organization with in the geographic boundaries of United States would be permitted.
4. The individual would not be permitted to take part in any sort of sporting event as. However the person may be a spectator for the same.

People who would want to enter the United States as a visitor would be issued a Visa for a period of not more than six months; however extensions on the same are permissible to a maximum of another six months while in the United States.
