USCIS Continues to Accept Adjustment Applications with Current Priority Dates

In spite of the State Department’s notification to USCIS that all EB immigrant visa numbers have been exhausted for FY2011, the USCIS today announced that it will continue to accept adjustment of status applications (I-485) based on the September visa bulletin through the entire month of September.  The regulations provide that the visa bulletin published by the State Department controls whether or not there are visa numbers available for an adjustment applicant.  The September visa bulletin does not indicate unavailability of visa numbers in any of the EB preference visa categories. 


Visa for Nurses

Looking at the huge shortage of the nurses in the United States today, this has gone up to 117,000 for the case of unfilled vacancies for registered and qualified nurses, at different hospitals and nursing homes across the United States.

As a resolution to the above mentioned problem on the 11th of Feb in 2009. A new act was introduced in the house known as the Nurse Relief Act HR 1001. The crux of this new Act is that a new category of visas, the W – Visa category would be introduced which would only be for the nurses from all over the world to come over to the United States.

Visa Bulletin for Oct 2009

The Visa Bulletin for Oct 2009 has summarized the availability of the number of immigrants during October 2009. As per the same a black and white report would be expected from the consular officers on the qualified applicants. The report is to be send o the United States department of state. The limits for the fiscal year 09, has been fixed as per the provisions of the INA Act (Sec 201).
