LA Asylum Fraud and Asylum Reform

Recently, an immigration consulting business in Los Angeles was charged by the authorities with immigration benefit fraud and failing to disclose their role as preparers on hundreds of asylum applications.  This story may not be news for people who are familiar with immigration news.  It is just another immigration fraud case, one may say.  However, it offers some insights into the political asylum application process in the U.S.

The U.S. as a country of immigrants and freedom has always embraced the idea of providing protection for those who need it.  It has incorporated the definition of “refugee” from the United Nations Convention and Protocol Relating to the Status of Refugees in the domestic law.  Simply put, a refugee is a person outside her country or last place of residence who is unable or unwilling to return to that country or place because of persecution or a well-founded fear or persecution on account of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group of political opinion.

Seattle Immigration Lawyer | Asylum Granted For My Client!

This spring, I took on an asylum case that I had some concerns about but was confident that there would be a positive outcome eventually. I worked hard with the client to assemble a strong application with as much documentary evidence as possible, prepared the client for the interview and attended the interview with the client. Yesterday, I received a letter from USCIS stating that my client’s application for asylum was granted. I called her immediately to let her know and she said it was the happiest day of her life.

Green card process for Indians in US

In economic terms India is the main supplier of human capital or the skilled labour in the whole world. Germany supplies cars, UAE supplies oil, China supplies electronics and India supplies minds in fact great minds. Skilled labour is must for growth of any nation and in nation like India there is no shortage for it. Most of great minds want to settle in US because of better opportunities and more income. So for the permanent settlement there is a need of permanent immigration or in a sense a ticket to live in US permanently. This ticket is called the green card.

The Green Card Process

A United States Permanent Resident Card also known as a Green card is an identification document or the card attesting to the permanent resident status in the United States of America. Green card is an identification document for a LPR (lawful permanent resident) of U.S. who doesn’t have American citizenship. It is basically the confirmation that the card holder is legally permitted to stay and work in United States. This card was initially when started was known as ‘Alien Registration Receipt Card’ but nowadays it is known as ‘Permanent Resident Card’. This card is always kept by permanent resident along with him all the times for the possession.
